I do love buying and selling on ebay but I know of people who have had horrendous luck with getting ripped off or money took out of their accounts. Any good ebay stories?

First time I ever made a purchase on ebay, in 1999, I got burned for a set of ping golf clubs $550.00 paid with a postal money order
(stupid but I did not know better at the time) This person ripped off dozens of folks to the tune of over $14000.00. She and her boyfriend ran off to Austrailia. At least thats what the Las Vegas police say happened. If there is a bad karma fairy they will get lost in the bush and be eaten by Dingos. I have since made many purchases from ebay without a hitch.

I've brought quite a few items on ebay. Some good a couple bad.
I brought a pair of Birkenstock Sandals recently and paid a fair amount for them, unfortunately i think they are 'fakes'.. very clever fakes, but fakes all the same!! I wish i had paid the extra few quid and brought the real thing!
Also, brought a comedy box-set.. was a bit surprised to get 4 discs of copies.. i'm sure thats illegal!
Other than that, brought some great cheap books and cds.

I have over 500 transactions on eBay,in over 5 years.I must say ,of those, some where very questionable, almost every time, I worry if the item I just bought will have a problem,I will state 25% are RIP offs on purpose. The next is over charging for mailing the item.I bought a cigar box for $3.50+5.50 shipping, item got lost ,I got back 3.50 and the vendor ,who never sent the item just kept the mail money for a 100% PROFIT,no recourse and the vendor doesn't have to prove he mailed them.I can go on and on BOYCOTT eBay

I bought a dvd believing it was an original and it was a copy.

I also bought a graphical calculator. It cost about £90 in the shops here so bought it from the US for about £75. I didn't know that you had to pay VAT on it and pay the post office for the priviledge of collecting it! It ended up me paying more that what it would've from the UK! If the seller declared it as a gift, I wouldn't have paid anything!

I bought and sold a few bits without problems. Most people on there are genuine /honest. The only time I had a problem was when I purchased a Scooby Doo CUSHION for my son to use in bed - only to find it was less than six inches wide - more of a pin cushion than a pillow!

I've paid for stuff on ebay before and the person never took the payment out of their paypal account. Then they said I never paid. Then they left me bad feedback. Some people just are out there to screw you. Always read their feeback scores before you bid. 1 bad feedback maybe just bad luck, but 5 or more in the last month your probally in for trouble.

I recently bought some sandals and the person I sent my cheque to tried to con me into sending it again saying she never received it, unfortunately for her my friend works in the bank she has her account and knows her and informed me she has in fact paid the money into her account, why do that, its nasty and only got her into trouble, now I think I will join paypal so it hopefully won't happen again.

Mostly good, one bad-ish. I bought a dress which was going to be made specifically for me and when it arrived not only did it not fit but all of the beads fell off from poor workmanship.
