Sorry she is pretty but the fame is not due to that maybe its an addon. The real reason for her fame is she the only woman from India who has gone upto that level and she is getting the same fame as Ramanatha Krishnan got during his days. Just looks alone Nope there are many more attractive girls in India than Sania.

Okay jes a lil background. I don't follow sports & could care less about tennis & never heard of Sania Mirza until this question. I Google Image searched to see what you're asking and it reveals a perfectly attractive girl that plays tennis.
I suspect that she has earned her status as a result of a history of clean living & reverence for life & the blessings of her fame are completely attributed to these aspects.
Loox are, in my opinion, a blessing from God to demonstrate a 'frame of reference'. In other words, we are shown what IS good & what is less than good, to be able to appreciate the results of our lives.
Sometimes I think that, although I'm as ugly as a mud fence, it's caused by my ancestor's refusal to live the way God intended. In spite of my outward appearence, I've been blessed with the opportunity to live righteously & therefore found an absoulutely gorgeous bride & enjoy an absolutely splendid life.
Now, with all that considered, you have my answer to your question as, "Loox are skin deep, fugly is toda bone!" +2!

Why did she shot to fame?? Because she achieved something!
Hasn't she won any tournments?? Just check out her career record...
Why is she in news?? Because she is a youth icon and yes she is young and attractive and not just because of that - but for what she has been achieving..

I have nothing for or against Sania Mirza, but it seems to me that 99.9999% of her "fame" is from Yahoo Answers.

No, i don't think so. She is the only Indian Female Tennis star to have done so well in the International circuit. She deserves every accolades she gets and if she is beautiful and glamorous its not her fault.

i have heard of nothing but mirza. and personally i dont see what the big deal is.. she is an average tennis player and shes no maria or anna looks wise. mirza has game but it would take alot of work for her to break the top 10

yes..definitely..of her good looks.and specially of her religion...the muslim clergies loudly protest her outfits which drew the un-necessary attention...other wise ..with her just average game & her bad manner ..even though she is ok in looks...nobody will take notice of her.
