Sure they can stumble on it, or pass something on they heard, but i never give credence to advice that came from someone who has not been to the battlefield called raising kids, as its one of the few endeavors of if you ain't been there you just couldn't possibly know and the advice they dispense cant possibly come from the heart. good question

Well, not everybody has raised kids, but everyone has been someone's kid. I think almost anybody with a good mind can give parents advice on how to handle the kids by identifying with the child's point of view and helping the parents to come to a common ground. 90% of parent-child conflicts can be solved by listening and practicing better people's skills.
Otherwise, we all know at least a set of successful parents, and wise people always fill their minds by reading books and listening to audio materials. While I don't have kids myself, if parents come to me complaining about what their kids are like, I refer them to a book by Florence Littauer, John C. Maxwell, Gary Chapman, or Les Giblin. It always works!

I believe they can. I,ve never had kids but family and friends are always asking my advice because I have been able to stand back for 40 years and observe the way they have raised their kids or are raising them now. I believe it is because I am neutral ground.

No way. You can go to school and learn all the theory you want, but when it comes down to it children have personalities as well as wants and needs. And if you have never "been there done that" you have no real idea what it is like and what actually works.

Kids is a lifetime commitement....... and a Joy.... raising kids is more than just having them and loving them...you have to make sure they are taken care of physically and emotionally....diapers, food, formula, love, care...ect.......

I have seen so many people give advice on kids before they had them, once they had their own things were very different, you have no idea until you experience having children of your own.
