They would be unable to understand any of it, and would consider everything "magic". The concept of "electricity" would be totally beyond them. They would probably marvel most at the huge population living (reasonably) peacefully -- the 16th century had no police forces, no real courts or judges, and no real system of criminal law (other than what you could deal out yourself). In the 16th century hardly anyone lived in a town, and there were very few cities that would be considered large by today's standards. Hardly anyone ever travelled more than a few miles from where they were born.

All the answers are wrong. People from 16th century wont be surprised or shocked or whatever cos they AREN'T. Who do you guys think you are? We are all the people from whatver 0 century you are talking of. Why?
Because life and its intricacies are just CONTINUOUS. What we have today is just an advance in state of what was yesterday. Just as we dont get amazed or even take note at new softwares, like Windows XP advancing to Windows XP SP2, so also life has advanced step by step and thus its differences are barely noticeable at once.
If you ask a fresh computer science graduate of 1979 who is still practicing today, computer has advanced without him getting shocked even though he graduated without having a module that studied operating systems such as we have today.
So people from 16th century were gradually replaced by you adn thus what you feel about today is exactly the thing so you are an advance state of the stone-age man.

If you are talking about the average person from that time, I think they would be pleasantly surprised at the abundance of food, clean water and warm, dry living spaces. Also access to education and significantleisure time. They would be amazed by 20 Century technology but would understand it, since it is mechanical, but late 20th Century/early 21st Century technology such as the Internet might be difficult for them to grasp.

Completely mystified, I should think. You can (and people will) harp on about a lack of community, crime, and all that other depressing stuff, but I would think such visitors would appreciate the remarkable improvements in standards of living, the reduction in the infant mortality rate, and the overall increase in life expectancy. I could go on...but that's a start.

They might consider themselves to be tripping from a particularly bad fever and die of shock. Lets face it, to go some where else in time would be less of a stock to us as we have been brought up with the idea that time travel is a possibility ( think back to the future) where as they would not have imagined that it was possible.

Show them a few episodes of Black Adder then take them round to Mrs Miggins Pie Shoppe, they'll soon get the hang of it.
Are we really that different as a species now?

they will be curious to know everything about us.
many of their very strong beleifs would be absent. at first they would wonder why we don't belive any more in those things. when they'll know about their fakeness they will be confused . they might beleive us or they might consider us fools. it all depends on the person.
if lenardo da vinci would have lived he would have taken it very lightly on the other hand a common man would have fainted
