I mean, come on folks...the civil war ended a long time ago. You lost. Get over it.

It is the flag of Budweiser and Jack Daniels. By the way, the civil war has not ended in some parts of the south. I lived in a few cities where they still dislike northerners. They call it The War of Northern Aggression. It was really The War of Southern Stupidity.

The Confederate fleg is a portion of our history. To flaunt it as you say is not correct. The flag is displayed.
What is the difference of some one displaying the confederate flag and someone displaying the African pride flag or for that matter the gay pride flag. There is no difference. Each group are showing their feelings and their pride.
I am from the south and I had some distance relitives to die for "both" sides during the civil war and at family reunions both the American and confederate flag flies on the graves of departed relitives.
You are correct that the civil war ended a long time ago.But remember tha the war that tore us apart also served to unite us.
The term "ignorant hillbillies" was and is not the best choice you could make, for a lot of the "hillbillies" that lived in the mountain regions of the south were neutral during this war.
So friend you are very much entitled to your opinion, and I shall respect your opinion as long as you see there sre 2 sides to this issue.

Heritage, not hate. The single most ignorant thing in the world, is all of these groups and people who think if they eliminate the confederate flag that suddenly life and history will change, when all of us with any measurable intelligence and common sense know that is not true.

Forbidding someone from wearing or otherwise displaying their confederate flag is not going to erase the fact at one time slavery and racism went on in this country(racism does still exist in some places). I whole heartily agree slavery is a morally corrupt and evil concept. I whole heartily agree hating someone simply because of where they came from, the color of their skin or gender is different is asinine and wrong. However, my choosing to display or wear a confederate flag does not instantly make me a slave owning, inbred, racist, ignorant, hillbilly that lives and longs for the day the south rises again.

People are placing way to much emphasis on the confederate flag and making a very big deal out of a very insignificant thing.

The Confederate Flag means something completely different to those who fly it than it does to those who oppose it. The Confederate Flag does and always has stood for the rights of individual states over the will and mandates of the Federal Government. It is a reminder to all that we as a people have an obligation to fight the federal government when it oversteps its authority. (For those of you that still think it's about slavery, the Emancipation Proclomation only freed slaves in the Rebel states, while allowing slavery to continue in the loyal northern states). The Confederates are the only people in the history of this country that ever put the words, "Give me liberty or give me death" into action. It shouldn't surprise anyone that as the federal government eliminates our personal freedoms one by one in the name of homeland security, more and more people are looking at the Confederate flag as the long standing symbol of defiance that it is.

I don't think that all Southerners fly the Confederate flag because of racial issues. They just are proud to be from the South. I don't enjoy being called names any more than you would. I don't consider myself ignorant, nor a hillbilly. True, I am from the country and love it that way. I don't fly a Confederate flag, by the way, nor is one on any vehicle or clothing I own.

I think it's the same reason many of us on the island of Guahan are proud of the Chamorro Flag. We are proud of who we are and just because Certain Americans think they own us because of whatever treaty they signed, you can never truly own another human being or race or land. The Confederate flag wasn't a war flag...it was a nation's flag, a people's flag, an identify that will never be erased.

Personally I feel that flying the flag of a country that declared war on us should be looked down on, but as an American I love free speach and if you want to express yourself with a rebel flag then I will argue to the death you right to do so.

i be attentive to particularly some conservatives which at the instant are not white and that i'm one conservative that does no longer accept as true with flying the accomplice flag. I evaluate it a logo of the democratic celebration. The celebration that each and everybody started the civil war.

It's just a part of our history, I don't understand why people are so sensitive about it. My little boy likes it because it's on the General Lee car from the Dukes of Hazard, he just thinks it's cool. To me, (I was born in Alabama, and I am not ignorant, nor a "hillbilly") it just represents the old south, nothing more. I'm glad we are all part of the great USA.

I think perhaps the REAL question here is why you feel the need to call them "ignorant hillbillies," isn't it???

They "flaunt" their flag for the same reason any established group of people does - they're proud of where they come from.
