I'm looking for examples of early forms of language for a story I am writing. Verbal examples if possible, written forms will be fine though!

I would think that most primitive sounds would have been voiced from the throat, as the muscles for lip sounds were probably not well developed; but it is of course all speculation.
Voicing was most likley only performed to register alarm or to get instant recognition. Most "conversation " would have been by gesture.As an afterthought, most primitive cultures still tend to only have number up to 5!
I think it goes without saying that the first words uttered were in fact primitive swear words!
They haven't progressed far either!

Nothing is really known about early verbal communication - apart from what can be guessed ie grunts and non-verbal comms. I'd say if it is for a book just to use your imagination, there will be no hard and fast rules. Good Luck.

Have them take a seat on their palms...LOL Italians are very heat, loving and dramatic people who use their total physique to particular themselves while they communicate. shame that lifestyle is wasted right here interior the west. you are going to adore it. you will not at all meet greater welcoming and friendly human beings and don't be afraid you will not insult them. they're used to travelers. And as my NYC Italian chum reported, learn some niceties and don't ignore the MOLTO GRAZIE...thank you very plenty! Be arranged for a splash cheek pinching from the grandmas once you're a cutie too. LOL

Since creatures were able to make gestures and then sounds. Animals do communicate and do it very well. Just what is a language? Gestures can be just as well as vocal guttering's. There would be no certain point that you could say humans began to use language. It evolved from very simple gestures. Pictorial drawings were a means of communicating and are a simple language.

Maybe it was the apes with their grunting and hand signal communications that was considered the first form of verbal communication, god its a long time since I was at school and forget what I was taught in history in those days, good luck and hope your successful.

Could you be a little more specific on the title of the story/ that might help me.
It could be sign language because deaf people mostly are born with it
