Titanic is based on a true story. The love/romance story line is fictional. Its just something the producer wanted to add. He probably just wanted to add something extra to get the viewers more interested. What better way to do it than showing two ppl. fall in love. They have are older versions... different story lines. (similar but, yet different) I enjoyed the movie... so sad for those who didn't have a chance. Check out these links.

the story between rose and jack is not real, but that was just to keep the women interested. a lot of the scenery about the life boats and the musicians is real. of course there is some exageration with everything in the movies. but if you take your focus off the characters and look at what happened that follows the truth fairly well.

the titanic drowning is real the love story between jack and rose was hollywood. i'm sure there were love affairs happening on the cruise, that stuff seems to happen on boats.

want a word of advice? start paying attention in history class. the story of jack and rose is fake but there was a ship called the titanic and it was called unsinkable and it did sink.

The Titanic itself is right..but the love story between Jack and Rose isn't right...just story..
Some ppl said that Titanic was carrying some pharonic treasures for business man so thats the reason its sinking (The pharonic curse).... i dunno if its right or not anyways i think that its good story...

No, it didnt sink!!! They all cruised around the South Pacific for a while, like in the Love Boat.
