I heard it pays well, but you can only get a job if a member of your family works there already.

Sugar, you have to take the civil service exam, it takes about 4 hrs,
mostly english and spelling, just a general test, and try and get good score
they put you on a waiting list determined by your test score. Apply at your local
P.O. Good pay , benefits, and retirement.------C Ray

Depends on the area you are seeking employment. My brother had to work without full time status or his own route for about 4 years. That didn't mean he didn't work full time hours, but he didn't qualify for full benefits. He lived in Northern Virginia near Dulles Airport. I live in the Shenandoah valley and getting a job as a postal carrier here is a little easier. Gettin a job in the mail room...I'm not sure what it is like.

Thats not true at all. Just get in touch with the Post office and ask for current job openings.

I agree it is hard to get into a job at the post office but then with all the foreign labour working cheap. It is harder to get any job even part time.

why would you want a job at the post office? and how did the first family member get thier job??

yes it is hard getting a job at the post office if you going to apply at the post office you are going to take a postal exames if you pass they will keep ur application and if you fail they'll throw aways ur application and won't be gettin the jobs

You are 99.9% True my dear.. and if anyone says its not - tell them Lord Glencairn told you so.. Be a pest though - keep calling the Mail Centre that deals with your area - I have it on good authority they will be recruiting for Christmas Casual staff - if you are bright and use your smile to your advantage - you could get your foot in the door.. Get noticed by the people who mattter .... Good Luck to you..

I worked for the Post Office but non of my family ever had. It does pay well if you work the night shift!

Quick, apply anyway because they are in such confusion at my post-office over this new thing regarding size and weights of letters etc,THEY NEED YOU!!LOL
