I got the first Sims game ever, when it came out new. I bought nearly every expansion pack and I was hooked (I was in my early teens at the time, before you label me sad). I bought the Sims 2 and I got the first couple of expansion packs and now I'm bored with the whole concept. Anyone else share my views?

This sounds really bad, but the most entertaining thing about that game was building a nice house, filling it with cool stuff, and then getting the character with the lowest cooking skill to start a fire.

Or another thing was putting everybody in the pool and removing the ladder.

Or making a slave child. Then when the military comes box him in a room so he cannot get out.

I never played it for its actual content, and usually doing all the above stuff only took about 30 minutes, probably the longest I have ever played any of the series.

Me? Not at all! The game is really amazing.

I play primarily without cheats and set up weird challenges or modify some I read about. I am into experimental genetics and abductions that usually involve the whole 'hood. I'm doing a Black Widow challenge now where the Sims have a curse. They cannot work a day in their lives, but must marry NPCs, have a child by them and then murder the NPC and marry another, murder and marry, make children etc, to their last days - for money. Their children go on to spread the curse. One 'blackwidow' is going to Uni and will earn the ressurectnomitron thingie and bring dead sims back to be 'undead' and they will populate part of the town.

I am setting up another scenario, this one in Veronville where I haven't started any weird situations, where one sim keeps a herd of cowplants and systematically invites every neighbor and NPC over and has them chomped by the cows. Except for acquiring the cowplants, there will be a minimum of cheats to set it up.

I like it pretty chaotic. I also like to build weird houses. :)

I don't know when or if I'll get bored with it. I have been so busy with that pesky thing called real live and research projects, that sometimes it is a month or so before I can really play at all. I keep coming up with more scenarios than I have time to set up. It's good. :)

Yes! The exact same thing happened to me! I have SIms 2 and the University expansion. I played all the Sims, the very first through University. Now I am sick of them. In truth, I think Sims Superstar was the best.

I played the first game, i made it more fun by making a family of serial killers with the editor (freddy, jason, micheal myers etc), and inviting guests round for parties and either burning them with the old campfire on the rug trick or drowning them with the old pool with no ladder trick! HUWWWHHHHAAHAAAHAA!
You should see the graveyard! i had to make the house smaller to allow more graves.
Also try having half of the house serving the other half, while they live in cells! BRILLIANT! Causes some great fights

You know, as insanely popular as the Sims is and has been, I've never given it a look. I suppose I should at some point.

But now you've informed me that it gets really old after a while, so I don't feel as big an obligation to try out a game I didn't really want to try anyway. That's a weight off my shoulders. Thanks!

You're just bored with the game, stop playing it and play something different. It happens with nearly every game, you get bored of it which is why people generally have more than one game.

Yeah. I was completely addicted to the 1st one. and when the 2nd came out I was addicted but the hype wasn't here. Now, I find it boring. I think it's become repetitive now that they have kids and age and die. Then you do it all again with their kids. But every now and then I get in the mood to play for like 5 min.
