And that was the last time I ever did. I went to Kendals in Manchester (so, a reputable salon I assume?). The wax was not too painful but... the hair did not seem to have come out properly, like it was broken off rather than pulled right out. The hair grew back quickly, as if i'd just shaved... Also, I had little blood spots where each hair came out and a red shaving rash developed! It wasn't impressive......... Anyway, i'd love to get regular brazilians, but don't want a repeat of that. Any recommendations on salons / tips etc would be so welcome. I live near Manchester, in Cheshire.

I go to a really good beauty salon in the Royal Exchange Arcade in Manchester. The staff there are really friendly and seem to really know their stuff. There are also some good salons in Didsbury. You should talk to a beautician about your previous experience any good beautician will be able to advise you on appropriate courses of action and will ensure they use wax and other products that are suitable for your skin type.

If you do not want to waxing at home or in a salon.... or regular razor shaving at home...

Get a "personal razor"....
http://www.p*ssy-shaver.com

You can shave your bikini line...(& more) any time you wish...
These "personal razors" are used with only baby powder....
They give a super close shave without cuts, bumps, rashes, ingrown hairs... or any that junk. It gives such a close shave that I can often go several days (3-4) without having to shave my bikini line. I bought the “Seiko CleanCut” shaver about 5 or 6 yrs ago. In the long run, I found this cheaper then salons & more convent!

Try threading, its an Indian hair removal process where the hair is plucked out using rolled thread to catch it and pull it out. Any Indian beauty salon should offer this treatment, it lasts as long as waxing and it really does get every hair out and there are no chemicals (some people are allergic to the wax).
Personally I think Brazilians look like runways, lol, but that's just my opinion :)

The person who did the waxing obviously didn't do it well if the hairs were broken rather than plucked. But why don't you consider laser treatment, in particulat IPL, Intense Pulse Light. It's worth every penny because after a few treatments the hairs just fall out and don't grow back!

LASER HAIR REMOVAL. Forget waxing, electrolosis, shaving. If you want to be permanantly smooth down there then have it lasered off. Think of how much money you spend on waxing, creams, razors etc. Might as well pay 200 quid to never have to shave or anything ever again!

My wife gets that. She puts aloe vera gel on straight afterwards and the redness goes away in 24 hours.
She also uses a honey based product instead of wax. she says it irritates less.

That sort of thing happens to many women, and not only with waxing. I myself will have electrolisis so that I can get rid of the problem forever.
