I've played Age of Empires 2, is the third one much more complicated? Is it worth buying?

I think that the game is worth buying and if you know how to play the other two AOE then this shouldn't be much of a challenge for you.

its pretty good... a little different... such as you can level up your cities. And as you do so, you get some cards each time. And each of these cards add something new to your city. Cards range from military, naval, economic, artillery, etc..... brings a new fun different aspect to the game. The graphics are really well done as well.

have you played civiliasation 3 or 4? if you havnt they are much more fun
