I have three children and in my personal experience I felt more comfortable with a male doctor. For some reason I felt that the male doctor listened to my concerns and was more gentle than the female doctor I saw the first time I was pregnant.

Over here in the UK, women who are having a normal pregnancy are usually examined by a midwife, these can be male or female, but are more commonly female.

The midwife is also usually the person who delivers the baby too, and a pediatrician is only called in if there are complications.

I think it's a woman's right to request a female Doctor if she wants to, or for religious reasons, but remember if there are complications then it might not be possible to always get your request.

I would be hesitant to have a male examine me, and have only ever had 2 men that have ever done anything gynae on me (and for one of them I was under anesthetic).

I don't think there's anything wrong at all in requesting a woman, I'd probably do the same. I know people will say 'they've seen it all before', but seeing isn't the same as having!!

it really is an fairly strong question. right this moment, i'd say, "nicely for sure it will be legal, even if legal occupation every person chooses..". yet i have continually hated my male medical doctors when I've talked to them about certain women's well being themes. they merely don't realize, even with their training and years of journey. I have continually well-liked a lady doctor. i don't have the answer for this.. in reality i don't think of there is an straightforward answer. depending on a pair above posters: some women don't have a call in picking a lady gyno. My mom's buddy at the moment had an fairly confusing time attempting to regulate a clean kinfolk doctor from Europe who had a conventional disdain for women's well being themes. there is no longer an straightforward answer to those themes.

I would if I trusted him. It really depends on you and your partner's preference. Some men are more against their women going to a male OB-GYN than the women are.

I had a group of doctors that i had to see. 2 were women the rest were men. One of the women actually delivered my baby and only because she was on duty that day.
