I have when I was 18 and chatting with my boyfriend at the time. He is a witness to that one. However, I just learned that my Uncle just got struck as well over his communication station while dispatching.

I have never been struck. But, I guess, it must be an awful experience, however, I must admit that you are indeed lucky to be able to be writing here after that......

U were not hit by lightning just the byproduct. There is so much current in lightning that it creates a charge in wires just closet to the strike. It is that lightning causes a large magnetic shield and as it expands and contracts it induces voltage in other wires such as close lines are very deadly.
When it starts storming get away from all metal objects especially grounded such as bath tubs.
