I think it should be more complicated. We are NOT born equal; so equal opportunity doesnt work. Some are born with handicaps, curable diseases, different EQ/IQ levels . ...communism doesnt work because there's always someone who is willing to take advantage of others' good faith; I would die of guilt if I had extra money and someone else died in poverty. Yet there is the argument that we have to take care of ourselves; 'God helps those who help themselves' . . .where should the line be drawn ethically? I dont know but cannot think of being wealthy for very long without harshly judging myself

No. That reminds me too much of the foolish Utopian beliefs behind that hideous piece of work "Imagine" by John Lennon.

Having rich and poor does not harm the world or the human. But actually preventing people from being rich may cause great damage.

In free societies, for the most part the rich and the poor get that way due to personal choices and decisions.

If you choose to study hard, get good grades, be active in the community, work hard, don't have children until after you get married, etc, you will not be poor. If you choose to work really hard, to study, to learn, to seek excellence, chances are you will become rich.

It runs contrary to human nature to accept that people who choose to not work hard, who choose to not seek achievement, get equal rewards as someone who does work hard to achieve. This is why all the Utopian fantasies have always failed, and have caused so much human misery.

You are suggesting idealism. It's also known as socialism and/or communism. The people of Cuba have about the same of everyting, which is just about nothing.
The most ideal situation would be to give everyone equal opportunity, not equal results.
How would work to become a doctor if he could end up with the same amount of money by being a sales clerk in a department store?

What you are suggesting is a form of Communisam. If applied properly, it could work, but Human nature will corrupt it.

Greed and a need for power will blind the most human emotions.

It's the prospect of gain that makes for progress of humanity.
