I know morally it is wrong to swear at people, but a couple of times people have rung my up and I have told them to f word off, and then hung up. Is that against the legal law, not the moral or ethical law?

According to the law (FCC)- use of profane language on thephone is grounds for prosecution! I think it is rarely used though.

Well I don't think it's against the legal law but it's against the idea of being nice cause if you don't like to talk to anyone and wanna be alone just disconnect the phone and stay alone but if you answered the phone it means you want to answer it and talk so there's no excuse of using a swear word.

You are obviously already prosecuted by the question. You probably don't want to know that your phone service now has 'grounds' to discontinue service. You probably will have mixed feelings about being so unimportant that your phone service will continue solely due to the greed of the company to continue to take your money. There isn't a prosecutor willing to forego more important cases to bring your profanity to court. However, you can rest assured that forgiveness of transgressions are the reasons for living a more serene Christian life.

If they called you I don't think there is any law against telling them that. If you were to repeatedly to call them using that type of language you could probably get into trouble for harrassment. But by the way you tell it, I don't see any laws your breaking unless it is one of those silly local laws. But I am no judge or lawyer so don't quote me on this.

Not unless it is in the contract when you got the phone not to curse and abuse I believe the term is. I have heard of people being prosecuted for this but they probably called someone and cussed them out.

I honestly don't think you can get prosecuted for that. You are pretty much telling them to leave you alone. If they don't leave you alone, then you might be able to do something about it.

Get lost. I can not be prosecuted either. But this is bad manners.

It's rude, but not illegal, and I don't think it is even immoral. Some people actually DO need to be told to F-off!
