i just voted best answer on a qustion if anyone would refrain from flying on 9/11 this year, for fear of a kind of anniversary attack.

i chose the one saying of course not, because that would let the terrorists win. obvious choice i thought... when i saw the results though, i was shocked... runner up for best answer was: no, because i have faith in god.
not really well founded in my opinion, but okay, i try not to deride religious beliefs. mostly. anyway: what really shocked me was the leading answer:
no, because they wouldnt try to hit us the same day as before... besides it would take years to set it up.
hello? first, this would be my favourite date, if i was a terrorist... and secondly... who sas they have not been at it for years? for five years for example... or even longer...

comments please?

Well, if terrorists want to cause chaos and terror, they would choose a date...can be any of the 365 days of the year... 11 september is a little more difficult, because they are doing these anniversaries and authorities would be paying more attention to see if they are planning to do something like that again on that same date.

My opinion.

If anything, security would be tighter on 9/11 than any other day.
It could in fact, be the safest day to fly due to those existing fears and paranoid feelings that terrorist may try to attack on that day. Safeguards and prevention would be high.

Where there are opinions, there are always disagreements. We must respect each view, just as you feel entitled to your opinion, which should be heard and respected. I understand that you disagree with the other view, but it should not be disregarded, nor is it stupid.

my choice would be "no, because i have faith in god."

why? the other answers talked about the terrorist- the 1st one was he wouldn't let the terrorists win, but the terrorist will still win if ever they attacted on the same day again. the 2nd one was also talking about the possibility. it's true, because he thought of defensive mechamism of the terrorist. of course they will not attact on the day that they have attacted few years had past. But let us not forget that terrorist are more than just guts! they have brains! they can turn impossible things to possible and put matters in their own hands. so you are never sure whether they will attact on the same day or not- of course, especially if people are not expecting it. you'll never know how terrorist works and what is on their minds right? you can never tell. there's not assurance in their answers.

"no, because i have faith in god."- the person who answered this is assured of his faith. he knows that if the terrorist will attact, he is assured of his salvation in God, and if they will not he still has the assurance of being redeemed by God. always put your faith in God and not on anything else.

Living in fear is exactly what they want. Personally, I won't give them the pleasure, besides, I am of the opinion that your fate and live is already planned, what happens is meant too and you can;'t change that, so live your life as you normally would. And you can't really say PPL's answers are stupid, because they meant soemthing to them and it is their opinion.

Please consider also that the Muslim calendar is not the same as the Western/Christian calendar. The date September 11 only has significance because we say it does. You are no less safe on September 11 than any other day. If anything you are more safe because we are more aware.

They have been at if for years. And they WOULD use the same date as before. They seem to like nothing better than those kind of "in your face" gestures!

I hate to think of the rude awakening folk might be in for.

Not very nice to belittle someones answer to your question like that. But it does appear that they put little thought into their answer. Perhaps they were only answering to get 2 points, or they just overlooked some obvious facts.

I think that your opinion is fair and people will believe what they want to, you've just got to respect them, come on most people think everything on Fox news is true, you can show people the door to reason but they have to step through it alone.

Chill, you know what you said is logical and what others say is their opinion/belief.

it is not good to spend everyday in fear of what the terrorists might do next. it's unhealthy to worry so much about things we have no control over.
