Many reasons. There was much more overall and spread out damage from the flooding. Also, the flooding continued to be a problem for quite some time as well as the bacterial problems resulting from the damage, dead bodies, animals etc... It was a biological hazard even more so than twin towers. And a lot more ground to cover in clean up.

Define "quick". NYC was more contained.
Katrina affected 3 STATES.
Also..Katrina broke the mold on response times, preperation, cleanup and so on. There was NOTHING before Katrina that could have been used as a blueprint.
Its got nothing to do with the race or social status of the people from either state. Thats a lazy cynical argument.
The damage from Katrina was equal to the size of Great Britian. Thats a country.
NYC was in one spot. The infrastructures were still intact. Getting in and out of NYC was a non issue.
People say the cleanup and rebuilding of New Orleans isnt going fast enough etc. According to what? Compared to what?
Everything about Katrina was off the charts.

Part of the answer lies in the fact that Bush and many of the people he has appointed tend towards being sociopaths, but another aspect lies with the fact that New Orleans (and Louisiana in general) vote primarily Democrat, so in the Bush administration's mind, these people are "expendable". In addition, many of the Hurricane Katrina victims are of lower socio-economic status than would appear on the radar screen of this "brat-boy who would be tsar" who cheated his way into office. Bush has had a life of privilege, with someone else always cleaning up any messes he has made, so New Orleans has never been a concern of his, despite his occasional feigned interest during photo ops or election years. Ask yourself how things might have been handled differently before, during, and after the storm if the place hit had been Florida, where his brother has used the no-paper-trail voting machines made by a friend of the Bush family to be "elected" Governor... I also add that the Bush family and their political allies have a tendency towards racist attitudes, albeit camouflaged during election years.

A. 9/11 was unexpected and involved a terrorist group deliberately killing people.
Katrina was a Hurricane and people had warning to get out.
B. 9/11 - the twin towers are two towers.
Katrina- how many homes need rebuilding?DUH. Who owns those homes? They have insurance and if they don't that is their choice not to purchase home owner's and flood insurance. No one makes you make stupid decisions.
C. Do you actually know that those two events have no similiarities other than death?

Okay let's put this in perspective the trade center took up 15 acres was built on dry land in NYC where building go up and come down all the time....**please do not take this personal, I am not making light of the tragedy, God bless them** New Orleans is HOW BIG???? built BELOW sea level on the edge next to the OCEAN in Hurricane territory ......They have NO idea on what it must be like to clean up that size of devastation......It's nothing POLITICAL it's plain Nature and LOGIC.....not to mention New Yorkers pulled together and Helped one another there was NO LOOTING and RIOTS and VIOLENCE......New Yorkers and volunteers worked humbly side by side silently and reverently....

The clean-up as you put it was confined to 16 acres of land including the surrounding area of what used to be the WTC buildings. New Orleans "Katrina" clean up consisted of more than 100 acres of land and thousands of individual properties.

katrina was a natural disaster that effected more than one city, and 9/11 effected one particular area. you can understand harm by a cause of nature more than you can understand a deliberate act of harm by humanity. i guess we are looking to fix the human problem because it can happen all of the time, while nature is kinder, and only visits us with devastion rarely, and randomly.

Because the morons living there keep electing incompetents like Nagin and that idiot governor. As long as they insists on leaders who have no idea how to lead, they deserve what they get.
