For instance - A night with the cast of coronation street!!!!

I would rather be stuck in a lift with James Blunt.

Your right ITV is as good as cod liver oil. Let us analyse why ITV has become what it has become. Seven years ago ITVs rival, channel 4, aired a new type of reality show called Big brother that made them absolutely millions and the overall effect for channel 4 was any executives dream.

ITV, being ITV jump on the band waggon and try out loads of reality TV shite, usually with celebs and lo-behold, no f*cker watches it anymore. Not even my mum who used to live for ITV.

RIP ITV.

It is absolutely crap, but then most channels would be if they spent over 1/4 of their budget buying the rights to Friends Reunited and then not knowing what to do with it. They cant attract advertisers like they used to and will only spend money internally, so make **** programmes as opposed to buying them in. On top of which they own a back catalogue of shite to fill in the holes made by the lack of programmes they cant afford and they no longer invest in children's programmes either because there isnt enough revenue from those advertising streams.

That said, frankly I'd rather die than be stuck in a lift with james blunt

Most of it is, but then I don't watch most of it. Learn to be selective with your viewing - turn the bloody thing off occasionally! It really does improve your life! And try watching BBC2 or Channel 4 not ITV. (I agree with you about the lift and James Blunt - would rather poke my own eyes out with a toothpick!)

The only thing i watch on itv is coronation street,x factor, the news some days,at least Ant and Decs back on saturday.Theres far to much soap on the telly these days, bring back the quiz shows like family fortunes, play your cards right etc,and put them on at proper times instead of tea time.

i think both itv1 and bbc1 are ****. the popular channels suck big time. okay big brother is total garbage and waste of people's time but otherwise, i like watching channel 4. at least it is slightly more youth orientated and their documentries and films are way better than itv. itv has lost it- the only thing most people tune into is champions league footie. the rest of their programming reads crap, crap and total crap. period. pop idol, i'm a celeb, coronation street, those rubbishy my neighbours from hell drivel and its overrated, overhyped dramas are bull crap. the same applies to bbc1 with the depressing eastenders, strictly come dancing and that 'maria' reality show to name.

TV is retard fodder - and it's only going to get worse, not better. I gave it up 3 years ago. I worked for SKY TV at the time, and had to speak to a lot of people who didn't even know their addresses or phone numbers - sometimes even their own names. They knew all about Big Brother, or Manchester United, whatever, but did not think knowing your own personal details was important.
I feel using only TV as the main source of information can be detrimental for the intellect in the short term, and in the long term, the mental health of the individual.

I completly agree with you. I think every thing on these days is crap. in fact when ever I come home and I find my husband and kids watching a stupid show I turn it off and tell them they have watch enough Junk. I watch the DVDS of shows that I like. I would rather watch old episodes of Star Trek over again than to watch the new stuff out there.
