Well a cold sore could be a form of an STD, however if you've never had any sexual contact then that isn't the case. And there are versions of Herpes that are NOT classified as an STD. For example chicken pox, is I believe a herpes varicella strain and shingles is a herpes zoster. You catch those without any sexual contact. Lastly my little brother used to get cold sores on his mouth all the time and this started when he was 5 years old. So try to relax, at least a little.

Cold sores, sometimes called fever blisters, are clusters of small blisters on the lip and outer edge of the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red and inflamed. The blisters can break open, weep a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. Complete healing may take 7 to 10 days.

They also are a form of herpies but you dont need to have sex to catch them.
Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). There are two types of herpes simplex virus (HSV). HSV-1 usually leads to lip and mouth sores (herpes labialis), while HSV-2 most often leads to genital herpes. However, both virus types can cause cold sores or genital herpes if skin comes into contact with either type.

hope this helps .....

A cold sore is caused from a virus and becoming stressed about something. They call it Herpes, but it has nothing to do with the STD by the same name...even though they resemble each other, but in a different place. They are contagious, no kissing for a while! Try some rubbing alcohol on them with a Q-tip and antibiotic cream at night. And don't stress out so much! Good Luck!

There are many types of Herpes (Herpes simplex, herpes zoster, genital herpes,)all which are a part of the herpesvirus family. Now from what you describe, you appear to have Herpes simplex, Its not a STD, but the a virus in the body that causes the cold sores on or around your mouth. Many Herpe's are not STD's. Even chickenpox is caused by a virus that is in the herpesvirus family. And herpes zoster is just the virus that causes shingles (sometimes called the adult version of chickenpox). So dont freak out, and as long as you havent been putting your mouth where it doesnt belong, you have nothing to worry about. Hey, I'm not making this stuff up, I'm a nurse!

HAHAHAHHAHAAA. i tell my friends the same thing all the time just to get their reaction. except your reaction is the best so far.

cold sores come from a type of herpes that is harmless. it's not sexually transmitted in any way. i can't recall where it comes from but most of us have it.

basically there are different types of herpes virus out there. the most common one is HSV-1 which as i said just about everyone has and it can be transmitted through saliva or even tears.

then there is HSV-2 which is the type of herpes that is transmitted sexually and that is the one YOU DON'T WANT!

but it's perfectly OK to have maybe one cold sore once in a while. YES YOU DO HAVE HERPES but NOT the ugly type. i have it, you have it, your friends have it, your parents have it, etc etc etc.

in other words, THEY GOT YOU GOOD LOL.

A cold sore is not an STD, although it is in the same viral category (herpes simplex). There's nothing at all to be worried about. Check out the link below for more info.
