hey, i think you should call him Dawson Charlie instead of Charlie Dawson.. There can be complications as the boy gets older with getting names on legal things mixed up and stuff and i dont really think it is that cute to name the baby the same name as his dad. A middle name is good though.
What about the names: Jordan, Tyler, Bayden, Kye, Kyle, Dallas, Noah, Jaxson, Riley.. they are all great names

Charles is an excellent name. Just don't call him Chuck. All Chucks for some reason have buck teeth. (I knew two Chucks in my life, unrelated) I think Charlie would be wonderful! What a regular guy name, and among all the stupid things I think moms do today, giving their kid a last name for a first name is one of them! Don't call your son Dawson... that's just retarded! How about calling him Charles (dad's middle name) the second or Charles (dad's middle name) II. that is MUCH more distinguished than stupid Dawson. Remember, your baby will not be a child as long as he will an adult!

You are in the same predicament as i am. My husband is the 5th first born son named David on his dads side so wants his name to be continued in the family. I like Ethan.
If there is a line of Charlies then choose Charlie Dawson. If not choose Dawson Charlie. Its not like people are going to call him that, they will either call him Charlie or Dawson.
Cute

If you want to name him after his dad you should use Dawson Charlie. That way there would be no confusion of having two Charlies in the family.
Other cute boy names

James

I like the sound of Dawson charles it flows better than charlie. Nothing against the babies dad but think of how kids will use his name against him when he gets older . From experience with my kids other kids are cruel with names and I picked biblical names.
Mark Troy; Michael Albert: Mitchell Ray: Martin Jacob; Marshall Riley: Maxx Daniel: Micah Isaac & Christina Marie. Good luck enjoy the baby remember kids seem to be cruel once our kids get to school age and with the name Dawson he is likey to be called dawson creek. Although I do like the name just a tip.

I love the name Logan but Charlie Dawson is also cute. Dawson is very unusual so when you call your kid only he will come running.
My son's name is Hayden James just for the record !!!

Dawson is ok if that is what you like. I don't like the name Charlie, but that's just me. My son and his gf is having a baby in December. They are naming him Connor Orion. What about Hunter? They also thought of that one. Good luck and congrats!!!
