I've heard different methods, of let it run down completely before recharging, because it will be better for the battery life.

Then I have people that have told me to plug it up nightly so it's always charged.

Whats the best way for a longer charge?

Generally on any Ni-CAD battery for camera , phone , or power tools you should fully discharge before you fully charge. I do this with all my cordless power tools and my mobile phones it enhances power and promotes battery life. It can be a pain if you only have one battery! So I always have at least two so one is ready fully charged as soon as the other is flat.

What WiLLow says is certainly true for Ni-Cad batteries. These have a "memory" for low and high charge and therefore, the "time" between full and empty becomes shorter whenever the battery has not been fully charged or discharged. It then appears that the battery is reaching the end of its lifetime, although it really doesn't, it reaches the end of its practical usefulness.
With Li-Ion batteries now coming on the market more and more, this is not so much an issue, because they do not have that "memory".

The best way is to let the battery run down almost completely. batteries will last much longer this way. if you recharge it nightly the battery will not last long at all.

I charge mine every night but its up to the individual, and also how you phone charge lasts. If it goes down a lot each day, i would charge every day, but if it lasts for days, i'd only do it when needed, usually when it's on the last bar of charge!! Hope that helps, good luck!!
