The screen itself will last for many years. However the backlight may become dim with time, and is probably the part most likely to fail first.
However that should still be well after the rest of the laptop has gone the way of all things old.
The most likely part to fail first is the hard-drive... It's a moving part & subject to many more stresses (e.g. bouncing the heads of a moving platter, and the bearings themselves) and thus failures.

I have a second hand laptop over 10 years old, screen works :)
As long as you don't do anything stupid (like drop it with the screen open) I'd say the lifetime should be measured in decades.

I trust Kenn N. The battery desires to be exercised with the help of being run down & then recharged, holding in a consistent state of being charged will develope a "reminiscence"; f'rinstance, in case you recharge a battery even as it truly is surely discharged 10%, finally it truly is going to surely settle for a 10% charge. some laptops, certainly maximum, so some distance as I keep in mind, might want to be run on mains with out the battery in - that may be the answer for means-hungry apps like video games & streaming video. i might want to seem for a sparkling battery, supply it an total charge and in destiny surely use it even as out & about. and then run it proper down before recharging.
