your true period is caused by ovulation. Some women do not ovulate (and others, not regularly) -- what you think is your period is the shedding of the lining as it becomes too heavy for the uterus. Sometimes, this is caused by a hormone imbalance, and can be corrected by medication. You should ask your dr to refer you to an endocrinologist. Hormone imbalances can also cause other things such as being overweight, oily skin, thinning hair, etc. The pain pills may or may not have anything to do w/it.....good luck, and don't worry til you see your doctor. (you should write a list of things you want to tell him and ask him about this, so you don't 4get during your appt.)

i had the same problem with weight....i had maybe one cycle every six months, and certain medications seemed to trigger the start of a cycle. i went on birth control, which fixed the regularity problem...if you are trying to get pregnant, i would suggest being on the pill for a few months, and then quitting...i conceived quickly after stopping the pill.
