I never thought of that one. But similarly I was born Friday the 13th, (don't watch those horrible movies) and 13 is totally lucky for me, just about everything in life to do with numbers ends up being 13. And I end up looking at clocks at 12:13 every day after a long time of not knowing the time. Born on 12/13...

Maybe you could have a birthday party without any reference to Halloween and candy, and then have a Halloween party on another day (bob for apples, pin the nose on the pumpkin, do the blindfold feel the slimy things like peeled grapes are eyeballs, etc. Look for an article on the web for ideas of such).

She can be thankfull she wasn't born in December like I was because then as a kid you'd get birthday/Christmas present as one and often the weather prevented kids from showing up to the party.

I sometimes did a half birthday for my daughter because she also was born in Dec. so in June we just had all the neighbor kids over, without presents, played outside for summer weather, and had cake with singing "Happy half birthday to you...."

Oh on regular birthday party, whatever the theme was I would draw/make my own poster of the character like with Pin the Tail on the Donkey, such as Pin the Nose on Bert (Sesame Street), Pin the Necklace on Pocahontas, etc. Another favorite was always the Clothespin Drop. Knees on kitchen chair, keep hand up high, and over the back of the chair they try to drop clothespins into a jar on the floor.

Hope she has fun!

My daughter was born on Halloween, she will be 8 this year. She loves it. We always ask her if she wants a Halloween birthday party or a regular birthday party. So far she has always choosen the Halloween one. We alway's give her the option so she doesn't feel cheated. As for the special powers, I don't think so, it's just a date on the calender that also happens to be Halloween. But as for her being special? All my kids are.

You could throw her a really great birthday party. Then all of her friends can dress up and play Halloween games. You could also celebrate her party on a different day, as many birthday parties are celebrated on the weekends. Then you could completely separate it from the holiday if you like.

My husband was born on the 13th of October, and when it lands on Friday we always have a big party. (We celebrate Halloween separately.) A friend of mine was born on the Ides of March, so we always give her Julius Caesar cards! Just have fun with it. I'm sure that because it's on a holiday, more people will at least remember when her birthday is.

My aunt was born on New Year's Eve and she had her son (my cousin) on Christmas Eve. Weird, huh? Both of them have complained that people tend to lump celebrations together, but those of us closest to them make sure to separate the two.

If you notice that someone is lumping her birthday with another Halloween celebration, maybe casually say something about how you and your family like to celebrate it separately to make her feel more special. Luckily, Halloween isn't really a gift-giving holiday, so you shouldn't run into the whole one gift for two occasions thing- but I'm sure it will get on your daughter's nerves.

Good luck!

My sister was born on Halloween and we always celebrated both, her birthday and Halloween. This year, for instance, we are getting together to go to Six Flags for their Halloween night. She has always loved having her birthday on 10/31.

My granddaughter was born on Halloween. She hasn't been cheated out of any celebrations because of it. She does have special powers: She has us spell bound!.

i agree on the one who said think positive. my cousins daughter is also Halloween. so i know how you feel. don't feel bad think of it this way. we are suppose to be cerebrating Jesus birth, even though people really don't know when his actual birthday is yet, how many even do anything to represent his birthday , other than the presents and greed that happens. my own birthday is near Christmas and i just get less presents at Christmas because i know they gave me one they bought for Christmas in reality.
