Nothing wrong with Willow. It sounds pretty and it was also the name of Britt Ekland's character in the original Wickerman film )classic!) The Willow is also a very feminine, graceful tree.
Whatever name is chosen, it's the parent's choice. After a few weeks, any weirdness about the unusual choice will disappear and Willow will just be the name of an adorable little baby girl.

Willow is a unisex name meaning 'freedom' aka 'tree'. I think I'd be inclined to agree with hubby. Think of the stigma attached to that, especially if the baby grows up to be a crying child 'weeping willow' or teased as 'pillow willow'. I'm just keeping it real. Just think of those consequences. I suggest to your friend to find a book of names, look up the meanings and decide from there. Otherwise, tell your friend to wait until the baby is born, she will be able to decide a suitable name when she sees the characteristics of her child.

You have got to think about abbreviations and nicknames also take into consideration what your last name is and whether the name will sound nice. Don't rush into a decision as you may have picked a name for your beautiful baby girl but when you see her for the first time that name might go straight out the window.
all the best for your friends pregnancy.

I know a couple of girls called Willow. It is fine as a first name!! Why not look on a couple of the baby websites as they have lists of names which can help out.

Willow is a lovely name, but it's a bit hippy - if that's not a problem then fine. Please not Chloe, Jessica, Olivia or Emily, there's millions of them around and they're just getting more and more popular. If she's called Chloe, there'll be about 5 others in her class at school! At least Willow is a bit different.

Willow is a lovely name. I considered it for my own daughter, thought it was too common.
Names are personal, and why do we let the politics of the crassest lowest denominator of the mythical roughest playground dictate what we call our kids??
If people name their kids specifically so the name won't stand out, thats pretty much what they are expecting of their children.

I think that is beautiful. It's definatly not the strangest name people are coming up with these days. I've actually considerd this for my baby's middle name, but I can't seem to find any first name that sounds right with it.
