Generally, yes- However, do NOT archive your emails if it asks you to on occasion. I lost many emails at work this way (the server wasn't set up to back up these files).

They will stay there unless you archive them. And auto-archive might be one.
If you are at work or somewhere that keeps your email on a server your inbox is actually on that server, along with any other folder that isn't in the archive folder. The archive on the other had is a file on your computer. If this is a home machine then both your inbox and your archive folders are files on your computer, but they are different files.
Archiving in itself does not lose you the files they will go to your archive file and will show up in Outlook 2003 as an archive folder.
If this is at a work place or other such administrated mail server it is likely that they will put some limit on your inbox and after that two things can happen. One people can't send you email, and/or maybe after some time they might just start deleting email older then a certain time like 3 weeks. And a matter of fact if you don't have auto-archiving on this is exactly how you could lose those emails that are in your sent folder.
My work deletes emails that are more then 3 weeks old, so if I don't archive my folders (including the sent folder) at a rate sooner then that I will lose them. Look into auto-archiving if this is the case.

Depends on whether the sent items folders is located on your computer's hard drive or on a network server. If it is on your computer's hard drive, the files will stay there "forever", or until the size of the folder reaches about 4gig. At that point you will no longer be able to add to the folder and may not be able to send new mail.
If it is on a network server, there will be a much smaller limit on the size of the Send Mail folder (usually around 50mb). Once that limit is reached you will be unable to send new mail until you clean out some of the old mail.
It is recommended that you create a Personal Folder, and regularly move the older Send Items to that folder as a backup instead of leaving them in your Send Items folder. In fact, the Personal Folder by default will already have a folder called "send items" within it that you can move the items into. I move anything more than a month old at the beginning of each month, and it works fine.

THe sent mail will remain in the folder till you delete the same. The reason why you see only few mails in the folder is because your setting may be for certain number of mails. Either you should increase in the numbers in the setting or click next to see the next page to see other mails you sent.

They will stay there until you decide to delete them. Iam sure about this because i have used my email for more than ten years and all my sent items are there.
