Why do i pay taxes so that scumbags can claim benefit and sit on their @ss doing nothing? Homeless people are different they are in a difficult situation, but those people who fake illnesses and those that have their 4th child so that they can get a bigger council house make me sick.

I don't care how much the genuine people get, those who are down on their luck or in need of help, through no, or at least little cause of their own. There are thousands of possible scenarios, and that's why we pay our taxes and NI, its an insurance scheme, and we might need it ourselves one day. But what really annoys me is that I know of so many who work the system, who know all the rules and the angles and take home a considerable sum of loot, in cash and benefits, whereas many many others who are far more deserving get little. To get round these problems, as little as possible should be discretionary or means tested. family allowance worked well because everybody got it, rich, poor, good or bad. (I guess whatever replaced it is much the same) The good souls who spend their lives giving out benefits would then not be needed and could spend their time finding employment for the workshy. And those whose council houses are not big enough for their ever growing families could be introduced to condoms, or be offered a free state sterilization!

i am a single mother of 2 children!..... single because my partner decided to walk out on me and my two little girls. Do u think i like to annoce that i am on benifits??? Do u think i like to hand over milk coupons in the supermarket? I would love to go back to work... get to see people, and talk to people, other then just stare at the 4 walls i do all day!! I would love to pay for my 2 little girls clothes, food, all the things they need! But......and im not gonna use the excuse of no childcare, but at the end of the day, i had these children, they had one parent walk out on them already! And i aint about to let them be raised by somebody else! There my children, and i will raise them! So.... untill they start school, im on benifits. Now u can judge me all u want.... if i stay on a benifits, im a scumbag.... if i pack them off for other people to look after im a bad mother, not fit to have her own kids, never should have had them if i wasnt going to look after them!!! Either way.. im a scumbag or an unfit mother. So i choose scumbag. But a scumbag that stays at home and bloody raises her own kids!

Now here is a racist, "scumbags" as you call them, are people who are finding life difficult, I know there are a few that just sit in there @ss, but there are others out there desperately seeking work, with the unemployment being low this is difficult. but to give you a little static, only 1p of your taxes goes towards the unemployed the rest go to the government and your health needs, One day my friend you may become unemployed, will that mean you become a scumbag?

Because you're a schmuck who goes out to work!!!

Although I am seriously glad we do have a decent social security system here, I have to say in all honesty that in the UK its almost getting to the point that you're better off being on benefits than working.

We are on a low wage (both working but low earning) and were really really struggling to pay all our basic necessities - and when we applied for council tax benefit - we just wanted a bit of help to help us pay our mortgage and bills (no council house for us) we were told to go fcuk ourselves and basically we had no chance unless at least one of us was on benefits.

Then I became ill with pregnancy problems and had to give up my job, am now on Incapacity Benefit until the baby's born. Suddenly they want to help us!!!

Its because of this stupid system that says you have to be on one benefit to claim another and people not being able to make ends meet purely on their low wage with no assistance from the Government. If they did away with that people would have to go out and find at least low-paid work (which is what we do) and the government could just support them a little bit with their rent or whatever on top - would be much cheaper than feediong, clothing and housing them out of the taxpayer's pocket.

But just remember this - if things ever went belly-up for you, you or your partner became sick or injured, lost your cushy job, your company went bankrupt or some other misfortune befell you, you might be glad of those benefits. I'd sooner live here than in America where the poor are left to rot because they are presumed to be too "lazy" to follow the American dream or whatever. At least in the UK we appreciate that people can genuinely fall on hard times and need a helping hand.

Plus as for "faking" illnesses, the only way to claim Incapacity Benefit is to submit regular sick notes signed by your doctor, if you don't submit the sicknote they stop your claim. So if you were really "faking" it I'm sure the GP would see right through you and refuse to sign our sicknote. You can't self-certify. Plus after a while they send you for independent assessments etc to check you really ARE sick, so its pretty much impossible to "fake" illness to claim benefit, sorry to burst your little bubble there . . .

Well your scumbacks as you call them I think where supposed to mean scumbags am I right.

They may have a genuine reason why they are on benefits.

Not all people who are on benefits can help being on them alot of them probably wish that they could go out and work but can't bcoz of either a mental or physical disability.

But as for the kid situation well that is to be discussed. As for the lack of jobs now that is something different as of 6mths ago my wife was on the dole as she couldn't get a job working with what she does (computers) and she was getting herself down because of it and it was making her mentally sick as she felt that she was not only letting herself down but also her family.

Fortunately for her she didn't use you tax money, I supported the family through out this time and I would do it again if I had too.

So get up off your high horse and stop taking the p*** on paying your taxes.

Like I say not all people can help it. I pay my taxes and you don't see me moaning do you.

So get a life mate.

Cause we keep voting in power egomaniacs who are not interested ni any shape or form in you, or them, and the majority of us just keep the old ball rolling cause we can;t yet figure how to get it together to `sort it out` i.e. how about a brand new government with people who give a damn, easy if the internet was utilised, then no one would get money for nothing, even if it meant you made baskets, or cleaned the streets.

Just think, the general crime rate would plummet, we could have a clean enviornment, give people dignity and on and on.....

i understand where your coming from, my hubby and i agree with you we have 3 children and we work between us we would never sit on the dole if we was not desperate you need to be careful what you say as some people who do claim sincerely need that money. 10 months ago i was diagnosed with depression which i needed medication so i had to stop work due to the medication, anyway i claimed but i was not entitled, but the woman up the road with the same level of depression she was awarded some money. So in fact the whole benefits system is a load of crap, like i said earlier i have paid my taxes and i have contributed to the economy all my life and do i get help when i need it most no. But if i was a foreign immigrant they would handing me money on a platter. Anyway thanks for the chance to let of steam!!!!

Wouldn't it be nice, that instead of benefits, those without regular paid legitimate employment would have to earn their handouts by helping senior citizens do their shopping, or mow a few lawns - for a simplistic example. Those claimimg they are too ill to work could lick envelopes or something easy. But at least get them in the habit of having to earn their keep.
Just a thought.

It doesn't come out of your taxes, it comes out of your NI.

When you are sick and unemployed, will you claim benefits and become one of those "scumbags"? I think so.

Benefit is so low that they cannot be doing it for fun.

Get a grip guy, learn about how the economy works.
