Qualification is a recognition of your education

2006-09-12 00:25:40 · answer #1 · answered by toietmoi 6 · 0 0

The education a person had refers to where he went to school or what he learned in any given institution. The term qualification is related to education, altthough refers more directly to what a person can do or offer in the labor market. A person who might not have gone to high school may still be very qualified for a certain job because of specific job experiences he might have had. If you tell someone you went to a certain high school, you are not telling them much about your qualifications, but you are telling them about your education. If you tell someone you worked three or four years as a writer, and did several writing workshops, you are telling them about your qualifications.

In the American Heritage Dictionary, qualification refers to meeting requirements and competence; education is defined by systematic instruction and obtaining knowledge through this process.

In general I feel qualification speaks more to hands-on experience and knowledge attained through self-education, while formal education requires a more specific format and conclusion.

qualification has to do with meeting specific job requirements and qualification in a certain field is proved by a certificate (e.g. ECDL proves that you're qualified to use Microsoft Office), while education refers to obtaining knowledge (it is a broader concept).
