Oh no, he was a politician.
That means that he was not "misunderstood", he was a self-serving, self-righteous, self-delusional, hypocritical double-thinker with the firm belief that he was infallible.
In other words, he believed that he was always right (to ape a current NAZI ruler). He actually believed in eugenics. He used fear of aliens and hatred of difference as a racehorse to take him to the top. He road that hate horse like a pro, and cheered every minute of the ride until the end of the race.
Much like Dubya.

Hitler misunderstood many things...the main thing being that all beings come from the same source and therefore deserve respect and dignity.
