For one thing...you must be lucky. One will appear at the same odds to acutally winning the powerball lottery.

I think they appear when the program thinks you are not focusing on finding any pokemon, because all shiny pokemon I caught was by mishap. Like the purple felame nidoran while trying to race to the radio tower from Alzale town. And that blue diglet while trying to escape from digglet's cave. And that black krabby, while looking for stardust from Staryu off cherrygrove shore. And the green weedle while searching for Butterfrees in a bug catching contest. And a brown donphan while training at Mt.sliver. And that orange pikachu while looking for beedrills for poison barbs.

They seem to appear when you least expected. But I do know some things to make one.

On crystal, there is a odd egg that has the chance of a shiny is 75%in your favor than usually.

If you play the second pokemon generation, you can eventually find a red Gryagarous.

If you process a first and second pokemon generation games, then you can get a shiny ditto. Trade a shiny pokemon with mimic, or trade a shiny pokemon and teach mimic to that pokemon while it's at red, blue, or yellow. from these versions, have your mimic learned shiny pokemon encounter a wild ditto. It will transform into you, use mimic before it uses transform to learn it. When it uses mimic again, it had copied your shiny traits and becomes shiny. Catch it and take both ditto and your shiny pokemon from red, blue and yellow. The ditto will be blue, not purple.

That's is all I know.

You cannot find them. In fact, they're everywhere. Every pokemon you encounter has a chance to be a shiny one. But dont keep walking around looking for shining pokemon, as they're REALLY rare. I beat the pokemon league by walking through victory road for about 20 times, and i only found a shining Aron.

Good luck. Every pokemon you encounter(save that red Gyrados in Gold/Silver/Crystal) has a 1/8153(or something like that) chance of being shiny....
