The world is becoming more complex, more unstable, with more variables thrown at us, change happening at an increasing rate, yet the leaders we elect become increasingly dumb. This is like going from a tricycle, to a bicycle, to an automobile, to flying an airplane, to pilotiing the spaceshuttle. If you consider the evolution of our leaders since the beginning of the America (yes, I know morally the founding fathers had flaws), and the intellectual giants they were, its like we are going from Plato on the tricycle to Beetlejuice or a 7 year old child piloting the space shuttle.
With our world becoming increasingly more complex and at a geometric rate, and our leaders becoming less intelligent and less wise, isn't this whole thing gonna just crash?

Yes with the selling out of our nation we are cutting our own throats. Our industrial base gone overseas. The only thing the U.S builds that people want to buy anymore is weapons. Illegal immigration is overloading our public aid, education, and health care systems. We have lousy statesmen today that are burning all our bridges with the outside world. Our economy is based on Fiat Currency based on the "Petro Dollar". Morals, and ethics are dismal. i could go on, and on but one only needs to study the history of fallen empires to see where the future is taking us. Sad really.

Yes i think so
Americans don't understand their own denial
I expect the hysterical cries of "The Muslims are coming! The Muslims are coming!" Have you learned nothing about the world? Can you not see the obvious manipulations of the U.S.-U.K. intelligence community in these bogus "terror alerts"?
Gee, whadda ya know, it's time for a midterm election and George Bush has a 30% approval rating --- and here come the Muslim hordes because they "hate our freedoms"!
Grow up. The American government spends over $500 billion a year on defense, over $60 billion a year on intelligence. That's more than the rest of the world combined. That sound you hear is not a billion Muslims strapping bombs to their chests. That sound you hear is the American military-intelligence complex prodding the stupid citizens who pay for it. They've got plans for martial law in America, and you people are prattling on about Islamofascism.
The first 9/11 was an inside job. The next one -- probably in the next two months, just in time for the elections -- will also be made in America. Open your eyes and see the real enemy.

Every empire has a life cycle. Ours will too. I kind of think we are like the Romans. In protecting our vested interests we have created a raft of enemies, compromised our basic values and stretched ourselves too thin. I don't support anything this governement has done over the last 6 + years and the chickens are coming home to roost.
Lots of people aligned with the Bush Admin are a lot wealtthier however at a great cost to people the world over.
I keep a pass port handy these days.

Birddawg, With all due respect...
You know what is ironic about your question and statement?
It is statements like you just made that helps insure that America could very well be doomed.
If we as a people can not or choose not to respect our leaders and stand behind our government, right or wrong, then why should the rest of the world respect our government?
You can't tell me that you don't see how statements such as the one you just made won't embolden those countries and regimes that want to see the United States crumble.

Only for those, in the background, who are so full of knowledge,
but only offer criticism and no solutions. The future belongs to
those who take responsibility for their actions. Not to those who
resort to juvenile name calling , as a way of showing the extent
their intellect.

Not just america, Birddawg, the whole world is doomed, at the rate we are using resources, and killing in the name of peace.
It's only a matter of time.
Make sure that your affairs are in order.

I think America will be doomed the moment Bush retires.Coz no matter how evil he is hes got the guts to stand up and face te terrorists.I dont think anyone would wait any longer to attack that country once Bush steps down.As for the othe nations, there is no stop to the violence in these places. So I bet,in the end everyone will wage wars and as u said the whole rhing is gonna crash.Coz such complexities cannot give way to peaceful existence.

Some like to believe America is weak and we are still and will always be the strongest nation and 9/11 proved how strong we really are.
