I would give the hospital a call. Better to hear the advice from an expert.

Yes, it is right, you don't have to have contractions after your water breaks. You do, however, need to go to the hospital, if your water has broken, there is only a short window of time before infection can start to set in and you and your baby can become very ill. Go to the hospital now and get it checked out, if your water has indeed broken, they can get labor started for you, and start anitbiotics so infection is not a problem.

1. are u sure water broke will be coming out in dribs and drabs. loss of bladder control from pressure maybe. If water has broken & have no contractions would think ring your Dr. It can break and not go into labour, a dry birth i think it is called. They may want a look . Better 2 be safe than sorry. Good luck and hope all goes well!

Your water should break right around the 3 MM range. When it breaks there is a lot of it and it is a light yellow or straw color and will not smell like urine.
If you are at 3mm you will be experiencing some good contraction pains.
If you are still in question after reading this, well then head in to the doc.

You will definatley know if your water broke. There will be a fairly large amount, and the smell...well, it's certainly like nothing you've ever smelled before. You could also have a bit of water leakage. In any case, go to the hospital now. You can be open to infection and the baby needs to be monitored.

With my oldest son, my water broke and I wasn't having no contractions, that was like 5 am, than I decided to go to the hospital about 7:30 am...lol...... once I got there, I still wasn't feeling my contractions, so, they end up putting a cervical wrap on my cervics to increase contractions and so I would dialate, that's when I started feeling my contractions, this was around, 9 am, needless to say after 15 hours of hard labor and dialated to 2 CM........... I end up having a c- cection, good luck to you and congrads on your baby.

You should REALLY be going to the hospital if you think your water has broke although there is no pain yet. You could be still in labor and OT know it. I done that the pain did NOT hit till the last min. then I had my little boy! CONGRATS! BEST WISHES!

What you are experiencing is called PREMATURE RUPTURE OF MEMBRANES called PROM for short.
You should head for the doctor , do an ULTRASOUND SCAN to measure the amount of liqour around the baby and to check if you need induction now or CS .
You should be protected with ANTIBIOTICS , and you might NOT get contractions , it is not a must.

if you think your water broke you may want to call down to labor and delivery and ask them any questions that you may have. Contractions should start very soon, if you havent already had some...
