a pot and a wooden spoon works great for them to bang around with :) Check out fischer price toys, they all have age suggestions. My son loved their fishbowl that came with three balls that had different sea creatures in them that spin around. The bowl lit up and played music when the balls were dropped in. Fischer price makes some really cute toys.

small stuff toys r good b/c they feel a frd around them,n other kids of 6 years n elders when they smile nfront of those childern r good toys!

something with a lot of brite colors and make noise big enough so the baby cannot put it in his or her mouth,no small pieces or string or cord
