Something tells me you are much too young to be worried about this. Talk with your parent(s) and see a doctor together.

You don't have a period when you're pregnant. Having one is an easy way to be sure that you're not.

A menstrual period is your body's way of preparing a fresh lining for your womb. Nature seems to have discovered that the lining of your womb works best for holding a growing baby if it's less than a month old, so it makes a new one every month.

When shedding the lining, a small amount of blood leaves your body too. It's only normally about and egg cup full or two, but varies from woman to woman.

Once an Egg is fertilised in a womb, or uterus, that lining becomes the main part of the system providing nutrition and oxygen to the growing baby. If the womb lining broke down while a baby was inside, the baby would die. Sometimes that happens for unknown reasons and causes a miscarriage.

Periods stop completely during pregnancy. Bleeding while pregnancy is a very bad sign and immediate medical attention should be found as it may signal something is dangerously wrong.

It is possible to have sex during your period. The muscles at the base of the uterus actually contract during sex and menstrual blood will stop flowing out.

Some people can cope fine with the sight of blood and don't mind the small amount that may already have left. Some don't like it at all. Make sure your partner is aware you're on your period before having sex.

Hope that answers your question,
froggie
