At birth an Asian elephant weighs around 440 pounds (200 kilograms) and an African elephant weighs 581 pounds (264 kilograms). By adulthood both types of elephants will weigh close to 4 tons.

you can imagine their weight by this......an african wild buffalo weighs bout 1.5 tons on an average

usually an african elephant which is the biggest of all the rest of their species weighs bout 3-5 tons.........asian and indonesian weighs bout 2.5-4.5 ........
