If you were to explain homosexuality, what theory would you use to explain being an LGBT and how should society treat them?

Biology + social forces = sexual orientation

Virtually all human behavior and internal thought processes are the end result of biological and social forces INTERACTING with one another. This is especially true of sexual orientation -- and this in turn is especially true during "critical periods" of development in childhood, pre-adolescence, and adolescence.

There really is no "choice" in the matter. Biology is strong in of itself and social forces operate so they're barely noticeable at times, especially to a child.

Everyone should be treated the same.

There was a book back when I was in highschool (2001) Called "Brain Sex." At one point it goes into a theory on how a fetus is formed with I believe it was three burts of andorgyn (Sp?) Basically dependent on which of these bursts you recieved you would either end up Gay or straight. One determined your physical gender. One determined your mental gender and one determined your sexuality. (Which explains for effeminate straight guys and masucline straight women.) Not sure if there's been any acctual research done on the topic since then though. :(

It biological, the nurture argument does not hold water under scrutiny. Also, genetic investigation is slowly but surely coming to the same conclusion. As for how any person should be treated by society, consider it is said Christ gave this statement "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", now, if only Christians and the general population could learn that lesson, Gays would probably be able to live in peace.

90% nature,10% nurture maybe? I don't know. The way I see it is some bat lefty, some bat righty, others r switch hitters. Attraction can't always b defined by a persons sex, whether male or female. Some people r attached to others based on who they r, rather than what sex they r. IMO. But I don't think anyone really knows. Good Luck 2 u.
