I think so. We call it tolereance and it is the result of socialization. Being sexualy oreinted one way or the next is just being you. Some ppl start life one way, become "educated" to be another and then have confused feelings about themselves, and decide maybe I can fit myself in better if I become even different still. We all want to belong. It is a known fact we really can be conditioned to become what we become by others. Knowing that, the majority becomes socialized into tolerance. At a rather young age I was "taught" to be different by a man who was a friend of my family. He actually made money from taking "graphic" pictures of me. We got caught one day and he went to prison and I became a victim. Tolerance thru socialization.

Absolutely. Hatred and intolerance are not inborn, they're learned behaviors. Religion plays a huge part in this, as do the politicians who choose to base their policies upon it...not mentioning any names here... coughBUSHcough.
Notice that the generation born of 60s parents are far more accepting than those born of pre-WWII parents...society has changed since then, and the younger generations were raised to be far more accepting of difference. Hopefully the trend will continue. I like to think of the intolerant as throwbacks to a dead belief system...but unfortunately, these people have bred hatred into their families (and the highest levels of government), so they're probably going to be around for a while. After all, there are still white supremacists, even after all the strides toward racial equality we've made over the years. Sad but true.
I think people need to relax. We're not out to destroy your family or convert your children, so leave our families and children alone. There are far more important issues to worry about.

Yes we are. But though we definitely are socialized into treating them as if these lifestyles are normal and acceptable I personally do not condone any type of disresect or condemnation towards any group of people.

Absolutely and sadly most of it comes from 'that old time Religion', plain and simple, just like those who practice it, simple!

Yes. I think it primarily comes from these sources: our parents, our siblings, our peers, and our culture (including our religion).
