Have our representatives basically 'sold out' by placing the legislative process at the mercy of deep-pockets companies that hire lobbyists to pressure to get their way? What's a vote worth in the face of multi-billion dollar corporations?

We live in a country where the citizen is supposed to have a voice, and corporations (which are non entities under the law) are not!
Unfortunately, the problem of lobbyists has been intensified under the Bush administration----THE RESULT---
The citizens have no voice in government and nonentities have all the representation!

It's a real Catch 22, isn't it? Lobbyists bring issues to the attention of folks who are too busy to keep on top of every issue that concerns their voters but, on the other hand, it has now become a profession. The only way of getting serious attention is through hiring a lobbying organisation, and that's just plain corrupt!
They should be outlawed and the whole system brought back to zero to start again.

I think lobbying should be illegal. That everything should be put up to a vote. That just because someone has someone in there to talk to them does not mean they have the best interest of the US the world or even themselves in mind just that they have a job and it probably pays good along with is plush.

One person's lobbyist is anothers petition for a redress of grievances.

"Congress shall make no law respecting ... the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
