No because it's a DVD... And a DVD-ReWriter will recognise it as a DVD. It is possible for a CD to be used as a DVD though, although you'd only get 700MB of video on it. I made one using Power Producer I think, and it played as a DVD as the disc contained DVD files.

dvd (rw) can hold data from the hard drive
like music /movies/photo's/wordpad document's
notepad's/slideshow presentation video
mpg/mp3 /
same as a cd(rw) a
cd(rw) disk can be 900mb in size
dvd(rw)disk is 4.7 gb in size
your the dvd(r) and the dvd(rw) disk's hold more
back up of data and you can use the dvd(r) & the dvd(rw) disk to put the data saved on it back to the hard drive
but if you want yo make a system boot up recovery cd to put your system back on and all the software you use 1 dvd(r) disk that will make a full system back up of the windows & all the system drivers & all your software that came with the pc at the time so if you ever had to do a system recovery
you have your 1 dvd(r) back up system cd
save you having to look for drivers
you just put the dvd(r) system back up cd in the drive restart your pc and it will boot from the dvd(r) system recovery cd and reinstall
your system + drivers+ software
if you make the right systen recovery cd
you can even have it format the hard drive reinstall windows+ the drivers+ the software
thats what you can do with 1 dvd(r)systemy recovery cd
you can even have it just reinstall windows+ the drivers+ software with out having to format the hard drive its a 2 way system recovery back up 1 dvd(r) system recovery cd
and if made right your system is backup and running in no time at all
the Process is verry fast
