When ink gets nto leather it redyes it. There are some products on the market called ink lifters which in some cases can remove the ink if is got to quickly enough. If not you would have to use a solvent but it would then remove the finish and the pigment on the leather which would then need replacing.

It is really a technical job and not a cleaning one.

If you require a technician in your area you can contact LTT who have a list of technicians who they have trained and who can do this type of work.

If you have a white suite it is essential to use a good leather protector (not a conditioner) which will make it easier to clean next time, also purchase an ink stick and tape it under your settee so that if it happens again you can get to it quickly, the sooner you get to it the more likely you are to remove it.

Please do not use nail varnish remove or other household products that are not for leather as you will ruin your suite.

According to the International Fabricare Institute, removing ink from leather is not easy. Stain removers containing dry-cleaning solvent or alcohol might work, but could leave rings or discolor the leather. If that happens, only a leather-care professional might be able to restore the color. So, it's probably better to call a leather-cleaning specialist.

try vinegar (white) mi xx with a little Vanish and dab on leather in circular motion.
test first in discreet area to make sure it does not affect the colour of the leather. Then feed with leather cleaner.
There is some special leather cleaner that removes stains, call a leather expert. Dont bother going to any dry cleaner to ask for advise, they have not got a clue.

Hairspray, works on cloth, not on leather. In fact it damages the leather

Use non-biological washing powder it has to be gentle enough for a baby though such as Dreft, dilute it then dab over the effected area, in fact you can do all of the suite in the powder it will make it smell nice too, afterwards you need to apply some saddle soap to protect it.

Stain devils. They're only a couple of quid and they do work.

You buy seperate ones for each kind of stain. There's one specially for pen ink. I'm pretty sure it's okay on leather, but do read the back of the packet before buying it!

acetone...gently wipe the ink off...Then wash the acetone off.
You will not have to check for color fastness since it is white, but
I migjht do it depending on what type of leather it is. Put a bit of acetone on a inside seam or hidden area, and check. I don't think you will encounter a problem though. It also worked for me on a pair of mint green pants.
Ink, not permanet marker.

Go to a good shoestore or tack shop and ask for saddle soap. Needs a little elbow grease to go with it.
