The electorate chose a Labour government led by Tony Blair, surely a general election should be obligatory if the governing party changes its leader. Is the UK seriously facing the prospect of Gordon Brown as prime minister for three years without any choice in the matter?

John Prescott.
John is clearly next in line and a good bloke, handy with his fists, obviously dont get seasick, knows which knife and fork to use, dab hand a croquet, got a smart Jag or 2 just a tiny question over his judgement regarding the Secretary Bonking bit, we all know the fat git is too out of condition to get his leg over in a meaningful fashion, so why pretend to the press that he has been having an affair, even if he could assume the position his heart would give out so, no John I dont buy it.
Anyway John is a safe pair of hands until we Conservatives can loosen of the wheel nuts on Camerons bike and get everyones favourite Harold Wilson impersonator, young William Haig, back as leader to Win the next election.
You clever over educated rich university types may have nicked the Labour party from the Working Classes, but now the "Working" as opposed to lazy benefits grabbers, "Working Class" are joining and Voting Conservative.

I think Tony Blair should stay! I voted him in years ago, but then I remember what a c**k up the Conservatives made of this country, he didn't stand much of a chance to begin with, I think he has done a good job, I am in a better position and so are my children. Thankyou Mr. Blair.

It will be Cameron if they don't stop upsetting the voters. Gordon Brown was running the economy reasonably well. He will do a give away budget before the next election and hope that will get him the leadership of the Labour party and get them elected. But who votes? The elderly who are getting hit by post office closures, high energy bills, council tax, cuts in council tax benefit, cuts in health care. The disabled and chronically sick vote - get get hit by the Welfare reform Bill. Young people at university have been hit by student fees and they are tending to vote. So the small percentage that do actually vote they are offending. Brown will offer pensioners a hand out before the election. £200 for council tax or something - too late and too little. Cameron will clean up and we'll have a weak kneed neo-Nazi running the country.

Gordon Brown will no doubt take over from Blair as leader of the labour party but as labour do not stand a cats chance in hell of winning the next general election it does not really matter does it, well yes i do see a way of them winning, Elvis will come to London, sing to all the non labour politicians and then take them all away with him in his space ship, see no opposition, no contest !!!!

I think we should stop ignoring the obvious and look at the possibility that Jane's Budgie might be the ideal candidate!
It can repeat Buzz words and sound bites and will work for bird seed. Thrift has been forgotten in all this hooha about policies and Budgies are known for their common sense approach to low taxation as a way of stimulating the economy.

my preferred PM? if he doesnt win the next US presidential election, i would say MacGuyver.
