Its because blind people are not totally blind!!!

I am partially sighted and I wear sunglasses along with many other partially sighted people as one of the worst things that affects us is glare from the sun.

As our eyes can't react to bright light as quickly as some people's then we don't have any other way of protecting our eyes from the bright glare of the sun. When we have the shades on it can improve some peoples eyesight considerably.

Many blind people can see shadows or detect light from dark. The glare is also a very big problem for them too.

OK,. its not the most elegant explanation anyone has ever made, but I hope it helps!!!

Because even though the eye cannot carry an image, it is sensitive to light, so it hurts their eyes. Though blind, the visual processing center of the brain is still in working order.

There was a very good program on this last year on Discovery Health. They took a young woman and completely covered her eyes, placing unexposed film under the bandages so that when uncovered, the film will show whether any light got through.

They found that the visual activity center began processing input from the fingers and the ears, making it possible for the young woman to learn braille. When they applied a magnetic pulse to the back of her head, she lost the ability for several minutes. After a month of testing was done, they unwrapped her eyes, but she could see for a couple of days. The visual activity center had to take time to switch back the visual mode.

the problem with blind people is they might have some sensitivity to sun light, or not necessarily because they look a little bit different from other people in thier appearance, so they wear sunglass instead to hide this stigma. while deaf people need no muffs, since it's not a visible stigmata.

David Blunkett didn't wear sunglasses...
There are various levels of blindness...funnilly enough, & some people classed as blind are still sensitive to light/shadows, this then makes them ignore the other senses & they bump in to things....hence they wear shades to kill that last bit of light.

Also....a lot of blind people are advised to wear shades to protect the eyes from dust/UV damage & hence further complications as they can not tell if the sun is so bright it's damaging the eyes

I bet blind people wear sunglasses not because they need it, but only because "normal" people find unpleasant to look at heir eyes.
On the other hand, deaf people don't wear ear muffs because their ears look perfectly normal

it seems like you just wanted a time out by forwarding this question.

You can easily tell that this person is blind by simply looking at where his sockets are or how he is carrying himself. They don't want to be a centre of attraction or anything like that, therefore they are going to put on the glasses for you to hardly recognise them. The deaf have nothing to worry, you cannot easily pick them out from a group, so why bothering themselves with the muffs.

Have fun,

Cause blind people sometimes have a special gaze. Or their eyes are damaged. And people in general don't like to see reality as it is so they spare your little heart. One thing though, they see things better than us cause they see with their heart! Look at Bocelli he sings so beautifully it makes you wanna cry!His eyes are crooked but he doesn't wear sunglasses. People get disturbed easily with these things...

mainly because the eyes or the area around the eyes can usually be unpleasant to see - scars, discolouration, vacant stares etc

there are no visable signs that a person is deaf, or even partially deaf.

even so ears can be easily covered up with hair if they are disfigured.

myself, i have been deaf on my left side for 5 years, and you would never tell, unless you see my hearing aid.
