Hmmm...if I was asked this by one of the old dears in the village (I am a healer, card reader, crystal nut etc etc):
I'd say that you have hidden troubles between you and your friend, possibly deep seated envies or a past argument had not been resolved in your interest.
The fact that in your dream you were sat chatting (I presume relaxed) signifies that you are quite unaware of the feelings you harbour within your subconcious mind.
Look through your past meetings etc, and see if anything was said/done which may have displeased you, something which out of sheer decency you ignored (so not to have caused trouble).
You may have felt that bringing this up with your friend would cause a hyperthetical bang...an explosion of temper.
Hence why the dishwasher went bang.
Many things we think are simple, not worth getting in a tizzy about are stored deep within the mind. I think it's rather like a filing cabinet...a very long one and every now and then our brain flicks through it and drags out a dusty old fragment of memory.

Hmmm or you secretly hate the girl and want her deaded!!!!!
(kidding)

Anyway...I hope I have helped.

Explosion

To see explosions in your dream, signifies a loss and displeasure in business. It may also mean that your repressed emotions and rage have come to the surface in a forceful and violent manner.

To hear the sound of a loud explosion, but you did not see it, signifies that your troubles will soon be replaced with tranquility after you have overcome some small obstacle.

Dishwasher

If your dream featured a dishwashing machine. it is time for you to clear away the past, get over hurts, and get ready for the next stage of your life. Don't wait for changes to come to you. You need to get out there, take charge of your own destiny, and make things happen!

Usually I have weird dreams and after a few years or months they happen. This is what I do: I write the descriptions of my dreams down on a piece of paper, so I can know what will happen at the future. It works!!! But maybe in your case it's a warning or just a nightmare.

I dont think there is enough information here to really tell what it means. dreams are meant to be analysed, which means that i need to know more than just events that took place. i also need to know how you felt during and after the dream, and what stood out to you the most. plus i can't really tell if this is a dream that is supposed to be interpreted or not. because not all dreams can/should be interpreted.

Most dreams is your brain subconsciously organising your thoughts. Some times when your brain is overly subconsciously active, hyper from a party or had too much caffeine before you went to bed can do it, your brain can incorporate sounds and feeling that you hear and feel while you sleep into your dreams (can be anything from car crash, gun shot, cat walking over you, etc.) and your mind creates a story like dream from it.

for example: couple of years ago i had a dream that i was trying to swim to the surface and i had crocs chasing me. before i ran out of air i woke up only to realise that i was suffocating myself with my own pillow. and the crocs of my dream was from the croc farm i went the day before.

The kitchen and friends represents a situation in which you are comfortable and familiar and the explosion represents something that will happen/has happened to disrupt that feeling of security - i.e. you'll be (or already have) facing a situation that takes you outside of your comfort zone.

You see Nikki as a practical type and are afraid of the fact that you have strong feelings for her as she's not your usual type and you're worried what friends might think.
