Every year we roadtrip to different parts of the country to visit so called haunted places. We've been to asylums, churches, houses, hotels, abandoned building and even a few graveyards. If you know of any haunted locations in your neck of the woods, kindly post them here. If you have any info on them, that would be a huge help too!

In New York City, they say the International Youth Hostel around Broadway and 104th St. is haunted. It certainly looks spooky (and beautiful too). Its a former infirmary from the last century. One story I heard was that one night, one of the guests got up to use the bathroom and accidently opened the door to the chapel. There they saw two ghosts of nuns who had been nurses there when it had been an infirmary. One was kneeling praying, the other was walking about the chapel.
Houdini is buried in Queens, and the house where Poe lived and his beloved child bride died in, is still there, with his dead wife's deathroom still there, with the original furniture & everything. The museum is called Poe Cottage. Poe's Cottage is in the Bronx. So is Woodlawn Cemetery where Herman Melville is buried and lots of rich folk. Woolworth, Roland Macy, Franklin Simon, Irving Berlin, etc. In Brooklyn there's Greenwood cemetery. Walt Whitman is buried there.

the "haunted mansion" that was mentioned in another answer is actually the winchester mystery house, built by sarah winchester after the death of her family. she was told by mediums that the spirits of all the people killed by winchester rifles were haunting her and that she needed to build a house which would confuse them. she took this advice to heart & building continued on it until her death. i have been there several times and while i have never seen anything out of the ordinary, i have gotten the feeling i was being watched & felt cold spots. even if you dont feel anything supernatural, it is an extremely cool place to visit. the house is located in san jose, ca about an hour south of san francisco. if you are coming to san francisco another spooky spot to visit is alcatraz, the former prison located in the san francisco bay. the place has a very ominous feel to it. many people have seen spirits. i personally experienced a feeling of near panic while inside one of the solitary confinement cells (they dont close the doors). the feeling of evil inside was almost too much to bear. many visitors and mediums have experienced the same exact feeling. there is also a "haunted san francisco" tour that you can take, but i have never been on it and cannot attest to its authenticity. enjoy your travels.

Well in my area there are MANY locations that are reportedly bieng haunted the most famous is Pendle Hill in Lancashire, The Story of the pendle witches is steeped in controversy and folklore, however many sightings have been seen on this subject, not too long ago a tv was made of the hauntings in the pendle area. in addition there is also Salmsbury Hall near Preston which has been known to be haunted for many years.
