Thatcher, without a doubt. But I do not like the personalisation of politics around the Prime Minister. We DON'T have a presidential system in this country, and never have had.
I couldn't disagree more with Mike 10613. When Thatcher took over the Unions had reduced the country to a pile of rubble. He is obviously a lefty. Why oh why does he think we need that hideous "Human Rights Act" or, indeed the EU. It has become cool amongst the young to knock Thatcher, because that is what their Teachers/Lecturers have indoctrinated them into thinking. Also, with a lot of help from the LEFT WING TV MEDIA.

Thatcher was a disaster - Tony Blair is a saint by comparison. but they have similarities. Thatcher showed she could centralise power and run the UK like a president and Blair has copied her style - he even admitted to admiring her for it. Unfortunately, what was a successful government has now been tainted by sleaze as did the Thatcher government. They have attacked the most vulnerable in society - the same as Thatcher did. It looked promising, with the Human Rights Act, The disability discrimination Act and more money for the NHS. But most of the extra money has gone to friends in privatisation - Thatcher lined the pockets of supporters. The Disability Rights Commission has just been a government lackey, making sure disabled people have rights at work - but no rights if you're really disabled and can't work. Some ideas, like on the spot fines for yobs and taking them to cash machines were just ridiculous! The deputy prime minister and others have brought the government in to disrepute with sex scandals. As I write this Tony Blair is doing his - "I'm important world leader "bit visiting Israel and Palestine. but at home things are a disaster. Gordon Brown has little chance of leading the party after Blair goes now. Great spin - but underneath all that spin - they are full of hot air. but Thatcherism was like the Nazi movement - just plain evil - so who do we poor buggers vote for? The Lib Dems? Monster Raving Loony Party? May as well.

Clearly Thatcher is the worst. Although Blair hasmade some ridiculous decisions, he hasn't almost single handedly brought on the economic decline of the country, a la Margaret Thatcher.

Thatcher, good changes to our country with just a few **** ups towards end.
Blair's government has been dictorial and based on conservative values but we have still ended up with the usual socialist legacy of the biggest proportion of the work force working for the government / civil service while the rest of try to pay the layers of feckless management and administration and public services get worse and more expensive!

Thatcher was the worst, that women destroyed communities and didn't give a toss whilst she was doing it. 4 million unemployed, (approx) High income tax, underfunded NHS, underfunded schools, Redrew the electoral boundaries so she could get more MPs in parliament, corrupt councils. Remember the council in England who got done for selling council properties? The poll tax!!! riots, strikes, the Falklands War. Jeez and she couldn't understand why Scotland ended up a Tory free zone. And if you think tony couldn't get any further up bush's backside then remember Thatcher and Ronald!! thought at one point we were all going to have American passports.

blair anyday, no explanation just read the papers about millions spent on dvisors, millions wasted on NHS, his £150,000 pension, his plans to make a fortune by public speaking. Blair did it for his self gratificaion, Marget Thatcher was there for, and grew the Country
