Yes, you can. It is "missapropriation of company assets" as you are using the computer and internet connection that they have provided for non work related use. This can also happen for checking yahoo or other personal web based mail. It is also extremely common that employers can and do monitor your computer use beyond what websites you visit. This can be from programs that monitor what is seen on your screen, to reading your work email (remember, its not yours, it belongs to your employer) to programs that document every keypunch, including passwords you use to access personal mail and other online activity. Many employees think of their work email as their own, but it isn't. Don't EVER type anything in email about another associate that you would not tell them to their face.

Yes, most companies frown on just going to unapproced sites due to the increased risks of getting viruses. Plus, you could be spending that time at work actually working on something job related.

Depends on company policy. Some companies state that you are not allowed to visit certain kind of sites and you are liable to be fired if you are found visiting them.

think of of it like this. you spot video clips which say 'somewhat criminal' which exhibits that the criminal age is eighteen and the youngest have frequently only became 18. If any sixteen 365 days previous have been to place their specific video clips up, I assure you this is against the regulation particularly plenty everywhere in this international and the two one's mom and dad and the sixteen 365 days previous will face prosecution.

YES .. if you are using the Internet at work for personal use, whatever it is, ie. slacking off ..you can get fired! (By the way, I hate to scare you but in most states an employer can fire you for any reason they want ..it's called "employment at will"..)

Employers have an approved use policy for their computers and on line services. They are pretty cut and dry. If you violate any of them, they most certainly can discipline you.

Yes you can. Personally I think it's overkill. I mean, it might not be OK to look at porn at work, but I don't think that getting sacked is a proportional punishment. But then again, we do live in a sexually repressed society.
