I assume you are doing this for school.
Right now it is 4:53 AM where I live. I fell asleep around 11:00... Im laying on my futon right next to my boyfriend on his computer.
He is playing a video game. I assumed we'd be to bed but not yet...
Video games have both way of going. But look at it this way, hobbies are things that benefit your life.
My boyfriend is always with it on that damn game. I play as well. His grades in college have declined. We argue all the time over the damn game. We have no money, are negative in the bank account now but to play this game you must pay a monthly membership.
We are on a new semester for college now, and he is playing the damn game where Sunday is our study day and now he will spend it sleeping.
He gets angry during this game. He throws fits like a child and squeezes his mouse.
But I like the game too. Because it is a game and it is fun.
It's consumed him and made me furious inside to the point of which I hate this game. Before it came along... I had a man a relationship.
Now I have nothing but an angry man.

Research is mixed on this question. While some research shows that video games help the brain stay active and create more connections that aid in memory loss prevention (even among adults), other research is drawing a link between the high number of kids being diagnosed with ADHD and video game usage. When little kids get to kindergarten after spending years playing quick moving video games with lots of stimulating sounds and visuals "real" life is much slower and they have an extremely hard time staying focused in the classroom. And of course as we see with all cults, what people are exposed to over and over and over they begin to believe in and have a hard time discerning the difference between reality and made up situations. So it is not a coincidence that there is more violence among young people that play extremely violent video games. Many people have a hard time hearing that last sentence but sometimes the truth hurts.

Pros would be they learn hand-eye coordination but a con would be a child mimicing what they saw in the game and i am not sure if there are any proven behavioral studies!

The ones with excessive sexual content yes. But the rest like Battlefield 2 and army Games are good replacements for some of the Gory shoot-em ups like Silent Hill and other games. Army games particulary are best for Hand-eye coordination and figuring out usefull ways to Kill things, Blow holes through a wall, or just simple demolition.

There have been numerous studies on video games. Although there are several benefits such as improvement of hand eye coordination and problem solving skills, like all good things video games should be done in moderation. At one point I was playing a game where you had to take your character to the gym to work out, to keep him healthy. I barely went to the gym myself yet, I was taking a video game character to the gym. At that point I realized it was time to shut off the PS2 for awhile.

Well it all depends on the type of game its is of course, but other than that if its appropriate for the kid's age, i believe its not harmful. But keep in mind that too much time spent playing these games could cause loss of interest in school...

PROS:Those who play video games can notice changes in their vision faster and they also have more patience. They are able to think faster.
CONS:They get addicted to such games.they give less importance to physical games(football,cricut,..etc) which leads to diseases like obesity. They give less concentration to studies.
In this technological age, barring a person from doing so will not stop them;instead there should be a specified time for it .You should not allow them beyond that limit.

It very much depends on the genre of the game actually. If your child plays games rated M, get ready to send your child to rehabilitation. However it also depends if your child has self control. I do.

I think if they continually play violent games, they will in time become violent, it becomes normal for them they can't rationalise between the games and real life situations.
