If I am currently working a full time job, but then enlist in the Army, (not the Reserve or Natl Guard). Am I entitled to get my originial job back at the end of my 4 or 5 year enlistment under Userra?

No. You may get it back after you got out of the military. Your employer is under no obligation to hire you back. Leave under good terms and let him/her know after you have served your country you would like to be employed by him/her again. Main thing is, leave on good terms.

If you are National Guard the only way your job is guaranteed is if you have been mobilized. When you return they must hire you back and include any raises and promotions you would have gotten if you had not left. However you can be fired before your deployment if you screw up. So be a good employee. Don't think you have the job when you get back and you can screw off. You have to keep the job up until you leave.

You practically abandon your old job upon enlisting in the Army. Thus, its difficult to get back your job.

I don't think so. You do know the army pays you for your service, don't you.
