Firstly get the piece of ribbon and fold the end 2 inches in half lengthwise (not across the width of the ribbon), then with sharp scissors, come down an inch and cut from the fold at a 45 degree angle towards the edge, when the ribbon is unfolded there is a v, or fishtail shape in the ribbon, you will find in will not fray.
PS practice on a piece of paper first.

All these suggestions are good but, in the long run, you will still have fraying. The best thing for you to do, after you cut the ribbon, is to apply the product called Fray Check. It is available in craft and fabric stores.
