Well, I worked at Motel 6 a few years ago,the wage was minimum wage. The work was fine except I hated it when I had to work on holidays.I also hated inconsiderate customers who would trash the rooms just because it wasn't their house, that really takes a lot of time out of the work schedule when you are only given 20 minutes to clean each room. What I did like about it was that I could practically go on my own pace and not have someone breathing down my neck every second. I quit the job because when I emptying a trashcan, I got stuck by a diabetic needle and panicked and went to the doctor for an AIDS test but it came back negative. That little incident alone was as enough an eye opener for me that I needed to change careers. Motels, unfortunately are the havens for the drug addicts and their habits, housekeepers are taught safety precautions when handling garbage but since I was in such a hurry, one little mishap could had been very bad. so that was my experience.

I had a friend who did for an upscale hotel. She liked it until hiring illegals and lowering pay became the norm.

There was a time when less desirable jobs had to pay well enough to keep employees. Now there is more "competition" with illegals who will work for slave wages in a labor-flooded market created by a corrupt, corporate-controlled government that won't enforce the law or uphold The Constitution.

Yes, I did, $6.50 per hr., hated it because of the maggots I found under a mattress in a room a bunch of teens had rented and had thrown food around in, but I also loved it because we had rooms and meals in winter time for ourselves and our families so we didn't have to worry about traveling and the hotel didn't have to worry about being caught short on employees in the bad weather.
